So is building a company that does not fit into anyone else’s box.
That is probably what happens when you are trying to create something unconventional in an industry that does not fit neatly into anyone else’s category map. We are not just building a company. We are defining a new business model. And startups have a way of amplifying everything: pressure, uncertainty, conviction, disagreement, and vision.
Add a father and son to that equation, and nothing stays small for long.
BuildLogIQ is unique. That is what makes it exciting. It is also what makes it hard. There is no clean blueprint for what we are building. No perfect comparison set. No step-by-step playbook sitting on a shelf. Part of the work is building the business. The other part is defining what the business even is.
That creates friction.
Ryan and I do not always see things the same way. We have different instincts, different pacing, and different ways of reading what matters most. In a normal business, that would be enough. In a startup trying to carve out a new lane, those differences get amplified. In a family business, they get amplified again.
And still, it makes me smile every single day.
Because underneath all of it is something rare: the chance to build something meaningful with my son.
Ryan brings energy, perspective, and the willingness to challenge assumptions. He pushes the thinking. He does not default to the familiar. And when you are trying to build something new, that matters. A lot.
This is not always easy. It is not always smooth. But it is alive, it is real, and it is worth it.
BuildLogIQ is a mixed bag in the best and hardest sense of the phrase.
