Some of the best people in the industry were not losing because they lacked talent. They were not losing because they did not work hard. They were losing because too much still depends on being in the right room, knowing the right people, and hoping those relationships turn into something real.
And too often, they do not.
I have watched good operators spend years building reputations, only to find that the rooms around them were too random, too transactional, or too shallow to create the kind of trust that actually moves business forward.
That stayed with me.
It made me think a lot about the difference between an industry that runs on relationships and an industry that actually knows how to build them well.
Those are not the same thing.
That is a big part of why I am building BuildLogIQ | Connect.
I do not want to create another networking group. The built world already has enough of those.
It does not need more mixers, more card-swapping, or more polite follow-ups that go nowhere.
What it needs is a better room.
A room with a higher standard.
A room built around trust, follow-through, and real business value.
A room where serious operators can build relationships that actually improve the quality of opportunity, the quality of work, and ultimately the quality of the industry itself.
Because I believe this deeply:
If we improve the room, we improve the relationships.
If we improve the relationships, we improve the work.
If we improve the work, we improve the industry.
That is what I hope Connect can become.
Not bigger for the sake of bigger.
Better for the sake of better.
We are starting in Orange County with a small Founding Circle because I want to build this the right way: carefully, intentionally, and with people who believe that integrity, generosity, and professionalism still matter.
I am building Connect because I believe the built world deserves a stronger relationship infrastructure than it has today.
The built world does not need more networking. It needs better rooms.
And I believe that if we get that part right, a lot of other things get better too.
